Are you like most firefighters who are looking to pad your paycheck? Check out these 7 Best Side Jobs For Firefighters Who Want To Earn Extra Income where you could actually earn MORE than what you get paid in your department.
I totally get it! We love being on the job, doing vehicle extrications, heading to a house on fire or doing some amazing swift water rescue.
No matter how fun & challenging the job is, all of us Firefighters work either overtime or have a side job because, unfortunately, it costs a lot to live these days.
To battle the financial stress, we tend to put in more hours in other jobs so that we can live more comfortably. But that all comes at a cost… Most often, it is our TIME that we have to sell for dollars.
We are the Captain of our own ship and it is up to each of us, individually, to set our own course.
I have put a list together of the 7 Amazing Side Jobs For Firefighters to help my Brothers, Sisters and their families to become financially secure.
Be sure to read until the end where I am going to reveal the #1 most amazing side job for firefighters! This one actually has replaced the income from numerous firefighters, giving them the time freedom, income and giving them the ability to spend more time with their families. This allows them to be able to watch their kids grow and spend more quality time with their spouse to build a stronger relationship together.
7. Landscaper or Groundskeeper
There’s something about hard work that is so fulfilling. Being a landscaper or groundskeeper is one of those things that could fulfill the hard work mentality. This is most likely seasonal, depending on where you live. The downside to this gig is that it usually does not pay much. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) says that the median hourly wage is $13.20/hour. For a firefighter to want to do this, they must REALLY love hard work for low pay. So let’s look at some other gigs that may pay a bit more!
6. Building Cleaning Service
This industry is interesting in that you could hire people to do the work while you manage accounts. You most likely will develop contracts with building owners to clean the buildings and then you would manage the crews. Like landscaping, this too does not pay a whole hell of a lot. The BLS has the median hourly wage recorded at $14.52/hour.
5. Moving Service
Some have said about me that I have a strong back, weak mind… I beg to differ at times! But, hey! Using your brawn may be the exact thing that you could do to make some extra cash on the side. These guys normally have a truck, a trailer and a buddy to help lift large items and transport from one side of town to the other. Or they may have a larger service where they go and package people’s homes or businesses then send off in larger trucks. Don’t quit firefighting yet… these guys don’t make a whole ton as the BLS median hourly wage is currently $14.47/hour.
4. Airport Bag Handler
This is truly a sweet gig if you like to travel. Several of my firefighter buddies work at the airport as a bag handler by loading bags into the underbelly of planes. They have told me that they get paid just over minimum wage, around $8.50/hour but they get flight perks, such as free flights, free upgrades and buddy passes. This does take a strong back because they are in confined spaces moving bags from the conveyer into the underbelly.
3. Personal Trainer
Most firefighters are in quite good shape because we have a physically demanding job. A few of my brothers and sisters have studied for their personal trainer certification in various types of physical training programs. If you are good, you could earn anywhere from $20 to $100 per hour, per client. So if you setup group classes, you could really maximize your earning potential. You are, however, still selling your time for money here. Not ideal, but you are, at least, earning more and able to pad that paycheck!
For those of us that have developed the skillset for website based work, graphic design, writing for columns, or various other “technical” types of work, we may consider doing freelance work. This is where you get a short contract to work on a project for a company, developing things like websites, display graphics for stores or billboards, or laying out fliers for Real Estate agents, to name just a few. This sort of work could be steady or very sporadic but could pay several thousand dollars per job. The problem with this is that once you finish a project, you are essentially out of work, not getting paid, until you find another gig.
1. The #1 Jobs For Firefighters – Online Business
I definitely saved the best for last! As of writing of this post, I have been able to grow my business internationally in 3 countries and YOU could too! Online business is the best way I have found to actually make an income that earns $10k+/month (and growing!) in residual income along with bonuses for achieving benchmarks in business. This type of business uses leverage and is the strongest business model around, which is perfect for us firefighters.
Imagine being able to not clock in, work anywhere you have an internet connection from your phone or laptop… anywhere in the world… ANYWHERE!
I have personally worked all sorts of businesses and found that I was an “employee” at all of them, selling my hours for money… Building someone else's dream by allowing THEM to leverage MY time for THEIR gain. This was not financial freedom.
Once I found online business, I finally learned how to leverage my time, where I end up putting in less hours and continue to get paid on the time I already put in… Continue to get paid for the hours you work ONCE… At first, this was a strange concept to wrap my head around because I was taught as a child that you must work for someone else as an employee… Boy is that a load of crap!
Come to find out, anyone who wants to learn to do business online and actually applies the income producing activities will earn more than any employee EVER.
Within 6-12 months, you could easily develop an income of over $10k/month. This is true freedom because you will no longer feel like you must hold on to an anchor of a job.
Most of us work a job because we must pay rent or a mortgage, put food on the table and raise a family.
Jobs are anchors, which prevent you from being able to travel, develop an incredible income and be able to make a difference in other’s lives around you.
The moment that I found this out, I became a student of how people who are actually successful in online business became that way. Now I show people, worldwide, EXACTLY what I did to learn this because this secret should not be kept from people and I want to make sure that YOU are able to develop your income and not be a slave to the man!
If you are like most people and want to learn about different online businesses that are recognized by the Federal Trade Commission as a bona fide business, then contact me so that we can talk about your goals and what you are wanting to achieve.
